Grassroots mobilisation is the bedrock of every successful electioneering campaign and eventual victory at the polls. As political parties await guidelines from the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), regarding the senatorial bye-election in Edo Central, Dr. Joseph Ikpea, an aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has handed over campaign vehicles to his campaign Directors in the various local government areas of Edo Central senatorial district.
Commissioning the vehicles, Hon. Sylvester Aigboboh, the campaign Director-General said he was very happy and proud of the proactive steps taken by Hon. Ikpea to provide vehicles for grassroots mobilisation. He noted that the vehicles will be put into efficient use. In his words, “this gesture has demonstrated preparedness, zeal and readiness to campaign to the nooks and crannies of Edo Central. It is a demonstration of Ikpea’s commitment to effective voter engagement especially at the grassroots. I therefore encourage our LGA Director Generals to tap into this zeal and to put the vehicles to judicious use that will culminate in APC’s victory at polls later this year.”
Speaking at the ceremony. Hon. Ikpea emphasized the need for synergy and cooperation between and among team leaders and all stakeholders. “These buses represent our shared vision and commitment to bringing development to our district. We must therefore take the message to our people and it is my hope that these buses and the supporting materials will aid us in this engagement. As we move forward together, let us build bridges and connect our people so that we can truly attract development to Esan land; one that all of us can be proud of.” He said.
Hon. (Chief) Sunny Ojiezele Ikpenomhen, LGA Director for Esan South East, lauded the gesture which he said was timely and necessary to kick-start rural engagement. He however called for proper maintenance of the vehicles to stand the test of time.
On ground to receive the vehicles were the Directors for Esan North East, Hon. Saturday Iyoha; Esan Central, Hon. Bello Oyaziwolo; Igueben, Hon. Pedro Esanigbedo and Esan West, Hon. Victor Akhire. They appreciated Hon. Ikpea and the Director General APC Edo Central Senatorial Campaign, Hon. Sylvester Aigboboh, for the trust and promised to put in their best; that will climax in songs of victory across the five local governments later in the year.
