Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally pens his new £350,000-per-week, three-year contract as Mikel Arteta convinces him to stay

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally put pen to paper on a bumper new Arsenal contract in what is a major boost for manager Mikel Arteta’s rebuilding project at the Emirates.

The 31-year-old has signed terms until 2023 worth an initial £250,000-a-week but bonuses included in the contract can take it beyond the £350,000-a-week paid to highest earner playmaker Mesut Ozil.

‘I signed da ting! It’s finally done, I am really really happy to be staying here,’ Aubameyang said.

‘This is my home. It’s a great day. I want to become an Arsenal legend and leave a legacy. It’s the time to work a lot but for sure I will give my best, as always.’

The Gabon international joined Arsenal in January 2018 in a £56million move from Borussia Dortmund and has scored a stunning 72 goals in 112 games.

And since Mikel Arteta took over as Arsenal manager in December last year, Aubameyang has been in remarkable form.

He led the Gunners to FA Cup glory which in turn landed them with a place in this season’s Europa League competition.

He also scored a stunning goal in Arsenal’s Community Shield win over Premier League champions Liverpool and found the net in their victory over Fulham on the opening day of the present Premier League season.

Arsenal reject Sheffield United’s £3m bid for striker Folarin Balogun

Arsenal have turned down an approach from Sheffield United for their academy star striker Folarin Balogun.

The Blades are reportedly submitted £3million plus add-ons for the 19 year-old but it was rejected by Arsenal as they want a structured deal worth in the region of 15m, comprising an initial fee for the prolific frontman with further bonuses.

New York-born England under-19 striker Folarin Balogun has less than a year left on his current deal and he is set to leave with no agreement on a new contract.

Balogun is rated as one of the best young attacking talents in England thanks to his outstanding performance for Gunners U21s.

The 19-year-old has scored 28 goals in 28 appearances for Arsenal’s youth sides during the 2018/19 season and followed that up with another 10 goals in just 15 appearances for the Under 23s last term before the campaign was curtailed in May.

Lucas Torreira set for Torino loan move with view to permanent deal

Arsenal are close to offloading defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira with Serie A side Torino in negotiations over a move, according to reports.

The Uruguay international has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates and did not feature in their Community Shield victory over Liverpool nor was he included in the squad for their win at Fulham last weekend.

Arsenal prepare improve bid for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar

Arsenal are reportedly preparing an improved bid for Houssem Aouar after Lyon rejected their first offer for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The highly-rated attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in this window, with Lyon sporting director Juninho previously confirming talks had taken place.

Runar Alex Runarsson undergoes Arsenal medical ahead of transfer on five-year deal

Runar Alex Runarsson has reportedly had his Arsenal medical on Monday ahead of his transfer from Ligue 1 side Dijon.

The 25-year-old Icelandic international has been identified by the Gunners board as potential replacement for Emiliano Martinez, who is set to join Aston Villa.

Martinez, 28, completed his medical on Sunday ahead of his £20millon switch from the Gunners after seeking assurances of regular football.

The Argentine international had looked set to stay at the club to rival Bernd Leno for the No 1 jersey but following several meetings with Mikel Arteta, it was decided that he was available for other clubs.

Things then progressed quickly with Aston Villa and Brighton among those keen on the Argentine but it was the Midlands club who met Arsenal’s valuation for stopper.

He then withdrew from the Arsenal squad to face Fulham on the opening day of the season and headed north to completed his move.

That is now believed to be complete, pending an announcement and Arsenal chief have wasted no time in finding his replacement.

And according Icelandic outlet DV claim that Alex Runarsson is on his way to the Emirates Stadium and underwent a medical on Monday.

The 25-year-old is set to join the Gunners on £1.5million and sign a five-year contract with the club after being identified by their recruitment team.
