Arsenal and Torino strike Lucas Torreira agreement
Torino have reportedly reach agreement with Arsenal in order to sign midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer.
The Uruguay international has struggle for minutes at the Emirates Stadium following Mikel Arteta’s appointment as manager. And his departure could used to fund a potential deal for Lille star Houssem Aouar.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window of 2018, shortly after his fine performances for Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He initially impressed in north London, playing a starring role under Unai Emery as the Gunners reached the Europa League final in 2018/2019 campaign.
However, Torreira has struggled for opportunities at Arsenal since Mikel Arteta’s appointment and didn’t make the cut for the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea in August.
Roma have been linked with a move for the Uruguay international, having already raided the north London giants for Henrikh Mkhitaryan but according to Italian publication Calciomercato, claims Torreira is now poised to join Torino instead, with Arsenal accepting a fee of £24million for the 24-year-old.
Arsenal eye Iceland goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson from French outfit Dijon
Arsenal have made enquiries about sign Dijon’s Iceland international goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson as a possible replacement for Aston Villa-bound Emiliano Martinez.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper made 14 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit last season but has failed to have any game time following the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
And according to RMC Sport, claims Gunners have made enquiries about sign Runarsson, who has been also linked with a move to Championship side Brentford.
It adds that Runarsson and Brentford’s £10million-rated David Raya has been primary main target for Mikel Arteta’s side as they looks to find back-up for No 1 Bernd Leno following the departure of Martinez, who set to join Aston Villa on a four-year deal.
Arsenal chief Edu sent same transfer message over both Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey deal
Arsenal have been told the same messages by both Lyon and Atletico Madrid when it comes to signing Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey.
Gunners head coach Mikel Arteta is eager to bolster his midfield options with both Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar as they looks to bring glory back Emirates this season.
But there may have to be several outgoings in order to spend and it’s clear that Aouar and Thomas won’t come cheap and as it stands, Arsenal’s funds are incredibly limited.
They have however, harvested £20m through the sale of Emiliano Martinez who has joined Aston Villa while Lucas Torreira is also on verge to join Torino on £24million.
And according Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted:”Atletico are still convinced to refuse any negotiation for Thomas [€50m release clause].OL have turned down swap deals for Aouar and are still pretending €60m as price tag. Toptargets, complicated deals. #AFC now need to sell players – also after extending Auba’s contract.”
