Arsenal are set to make an offer of over €40million (£36m) for Lyon central midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Emirates in recent week, with boss Mikel Arteta and Gunners’ chief identified him as player to add more creative to their midfield options.
The Gunners have made significant attempts about secure the signature of Frenchman by launch £20million-plus-player for 22-year-old but it rejected by the Ligue 1 side.
The Gunners offered midfielder Matteo Guendouzi in part-exchange but Lyon did not view Guendouzi as the right “profile” of player they wanted to bring to the club.
However, Arsenal are now set to return with another offer to prise Houssem Aouar away from Lyon this summer.
According to The French outlet Telefoot Chaine, claims Aouar, 22, has become Mikel Arteta’s priority signing for the remainder of the transfer window.
It adds that the north London club are set to make an offer of over €40million (£36m) for the midfielder, who scored nine goals and registered ten assists in all competitions for Lyon last season.
Even Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano was also provided an updates regarding the latest offered about Aouar.

Arsenal supporters will love the fact that the player is keen to join the London outfit. Romano adds that Aouar remains the top target for Arsenal.
