Despite mouthwatering encounter between Chelsea and Southampton ended 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, there were some impressive displays from several Blues players particularly Jorginho, who provided a sensational assist on Werner’s second goal.
The 28-year-old midfielder has proven his worth to Frank Lampard against Saints on Saturday as he sprayed some exquisite passes all around the park, especially the one to facilitate Werner’s second goal.
Performances like these are what make him an important part of the Frank Lampard’s squad. Jorginho’s movement off the ball was his main asset.
The Italian international moved the ball around, and instead of standing still, he moved himself to find space and intercept passes. Outstanding lofted pass to find Werner for the forward’s second goal – very similar to the one that set up Tammy Abraham away to Watford last season.
He made a couple of clever interceptions in a good first-half but was disappeared in the second half of the game.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard’s side played some fine offensive football against Southampton, but were pegged back once courtesy of their defensive frailties as the spoils were shared in their Premier League game on Saturday.
